The Asian Sepaktakraw Federation elected
Abdul Halim Kader of Singapore, as President for the term from 2021 to 2025. The elections held online on 1st March 2021, witnessed India's Yogender Singh Dahiya voted to to the office of Deputy President (29 vote from 30 votes) with alongside Prof C Chaiwatcharaporn from Thailand. This is the first time an Indian has been elected as Deputy President of the Asian Sepaktakraw Federation.
While the sport is grown in popularity in Europe and Americas, ASTAF today has 25 full
members and look to officially add 10 new playing countries
in Asia.
While the International and Asian Federations work for an inclusion in the Olympic Games, a major boost to Sepaktakraw is the IOC Media TV's interest in broadcast of the games.
It is under the uncompromising leadership and hardwork of Y S Dahiya that India bagged a Bronze at the Jakarta Asian Games in 2018.
Mr Dahiya is hoping that the global crisis due to the COVID Pamdemic will end soon and the players can continue their efforts to better their performance in the forthcoming 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou in 2022.
After staging the World Super Series in Delhi and ISTAF World Cup in Hyderabad, Dahiya looks forward to bring more international Championships to other states in India. He believes that its important that the young players can witness the best players in the world to make the generation of medal aspirations a reality.
